Matching Christmas Outfits for Every Dog in the House: A Multi-Dog Sizing Guide

If you've got more than one dog, you've probably pictured it already: the whole pack in matching Christmas outfits for the family photo. It's one of the most-requested looks every December — and one of the easiest to get wrong, because "matching" only works if every dog's outfit actually fits. A three-dog household usually means three very different sizes, sometimes three very different builds, all needing the same design.

Same design, every size — that's the whole point

We built our Christmas matching-set line specifically for multi-dog households: each design — the Santa Claus Flannel Coat, Cozy Christmas Pajama Set, Green Elf Costume, Fair Isle Reindeer Sweater, Snowman Costume, and Santa Costume Set with Hat — comes in a full size range, from XS up to 2XL. That means your Chihuahua and your Labrador can wear the exact same print on the same day, each in the size that actually fits them.

Measure each dog separately — don't guess from one

The most common mistake with multi-dog orders is measuring one dog carefully and then guessing the others "since they're roughly similar." Two dogs of a similar weight can still need different sizes if one is stockier or longer-bodied. Take five minutes and measure neck, chest, and back length for each dog individually using the same method in our Dog Size Guide — it also shows a visual size comparison across breeds, so you can see roughly how your smallest and largest dog will look side by side before you order.

Ordering for the group

A few tips that make multi-dog orders go smoothly:

Order everyone's costume in the same batch. Dye lots and fabric can vary slightly between production runs, so ordering all your dogs' outfits together keeps the "matching" look consistent.

When a dog is between two sizes, size up. A slightly loose costume still photographs well; a too-tight one won't go on at all.

Check each product's own size chart. Because these are different designs from different manufacturers, an M in the Reindeer Sweater isn't cut identically to an M in the Santa Coat — the exact chest and length numbers for each product are on the Dog Size Guide page and on each product listing.

Plan for photo day

If the goal is a family Christmas card, order with enough buffer before the day you're shooting — between shipping and the odd size swap, giving yourself a couple of weeks' cushion means nobody's scrambling on December 23rd. Browse the full lineup in Christmas Pet Gifts, and if you're not sure which sizes to pick for your particular mix of dogs, send us their measurements and we'll help you get it right the first time.
